I'm a recent graduate from the University of California, Berkeley (Go Bears!). I received Bachelor of Arts degrees in both Molecular and Cell Biology and English.
Experience
My previous experience includes two years of leading peer-taught classes at UC Berkeley, one year of tutoring AP Biology, and three years of tutoring various (non-AP) subjects at both the high school and middle school levels. I'm interested in tutoring because I love the process of discovering each individual's unique learning style and deciding how best to engage them and assist them in becoming genuinely interested in their studies. I believe school systems are often overburdened and by necessity approach concepts narrowly; tutoring is a chance to let students dictate how they learn most effectively so they can excel. My degree in Molecular and Cell Biology included classes in genetics, physiology, virology, endocrinology, and immunology in addition to general biology. This allows me to confidently tutor students in various fields or subsets of biology and at any grade level. My degree in English included similarly varied classes and enables me to tutor not only in literary analysis, but also in writing technique and general concepts of grammar, vocabulary, and reading comprehension.
